Data Deletion

ScanLens privacy and deletion requests
ScanLens does not require a ScanLens account for basic scanning. The website and Android app use technical identifiers for functions such as usage limits and abuse prevention. These identifiers are not automatically anonymous and are not the same as an Analytics or Firebase installation identifier.
Request deletion
Email [email protected] and tell us which ScanLens product and data category your request concerns. You may use the subject “ScanLens privacy request”, but a specific subject is not required. Do not send scan content, screenshots, passwords, purchase tokens or raw device identifiers. We will assess the minimum information needed to verify your connection to the relevant data. Control of an email address alone does not identify an anonymous app installation.
Local data
Android History and Guard Inbox have separate clear actions in the app. Their entry limits are 200 and 100. Clearing them does not clear Analytics SDK storage or delete all server or provider records. Do not clear application data or purchase access as a substitute for a scoped privacy request.
On iOS 1.7, local History and pending shared content have separate deletion controls. Deleting local content does not cancel Lifetime or delete remote ScanLens or provider records. Settings includes Request data deletion, which opens this page for a scoped privacy request.
Server, provider and retained data
We assess requests separately for scan results, security logs, usage-limit records, credits, purchase-related records, support correspondence and provider-held data. We cannot currently promise to locate all anonymous historical scan records from an email address, scan date or reported identifier. We will explain unresolved links rather than claim that unmatched records were deleted. Limited information may need to be retained for security, fraud prevention or applicable legal obligations; the category, reason and applicable period or review criteria must be explained in the response, rather than assumed to apply to all data.
When the ScanLens service contacts a submitted or redirect-destination website, that independent website operator may hold its own request records. ScanLens cannot directly erase records controlled by an independent website operator. A ScanLens deletion request will distinguish records controlled by ScanLens and its service providers from records controlled by independent recipients.
Server scan_results cleanup is not deployed: no 24-hour or 25-hour physical-deletion guarantee is currently provided. Website access logs and application security logs have the separately stated periods in our Privacy Policy; Business correspondence and customer records also have separate periods there. Local app entries, provider records, backups and journals are not governed by a single cache-expiry period.
Android 9.8.8 disables new Google Analytics event collection. It does not establish that earlier local Analytics queues or information already received by Google and other recipients have been erased, or that every earlier queued upload is prevented. The shared Analytics user/event retention settings are two months with reset on new activity off; they are not proof of completed deletion of all historical data or aggregate reports.
We will distinguish completed actions, unresolved categories, explained retention and pending provider or backup actions. Receiving your request is not confirmation that deletion is complete. Our Privacy Policy and Data Protection Complaints Procedure explain further rights and contact options. ScanLens provides support by email and secure online forms.
